How do you wire this to a new alarm?

Unfortunately for me, mine doesn't have the connector port. The cables go straight into the fire alarm. It won't turn off, only thing I can do is turn the breaker off for it until I can get an electrician out here.

The biggest problem I had was getting it off the ceiling! I was very nearly going to get a hammer and just batter the crap out of it! But I got there and the wiring was a lot simpler to disconnect after watching this. It's been going off seemingly at random for a while now but this afternoon was just the tin lid on it when it went off 3 times in short succession. It'll not be going off anymore!

Oh my god, thank you for this video, it's 3 years old but I needed it. The connector would not disconnect, I was about to cut the wires. I spent about 15 minutes searching fire-ex 120-11828 and luckily, I came across this vid. Because once I got it disconnected, I noticed I should have been searching "Firex 120-1182B". The writing is so dang-on small, I got bad eyes, and my headlamp can only do so much. LOL And the stamp date is 2007JAN18, I guess I better plan and figure out how to replace them all. The Symptom: in the past 3 days the detector in the hallway just outside the kitchen entry way was going off; no cooking, candles or anything, just once. I'm thinking low battery, check the battery voltage (measures 9.06v), thinking it should be okay, but new 9-volts batteries on the shopping list. Today, this same alarm goes off 3-times now and nothing is going on. Oh, additional note: for whatever reason whenever this hallway on goes off I have to turn it off with the same exact detector on a bedroom. It will not shut off by pushing it on button, crazy huh. And now since I got this disconnected I can faintly hear a very light chirping from the others of the brand. They hardwired, I will have to figure out how it feeds from room the room/interconnected.

How do I cut off circuit for good? Ours is hardwired to an alarm system that isn’t even active… we wanted to replace them not knowing it was hard wired and bought new battery ones. Now im worried about the live circuit once it’s disconnected.

ive bought a new smoke detector it has a battery 9 volt and way to hardwire the unit i dont want to hardwire the unit want run off the battery the green light flashes on smoke detector ervery 30 secounds is it ok for the battery only thank you

Thank you thank you thank you!!! My smoke alarm has been chirping all night long. One cat has been in the corner for hours hiding from the carnivorous cat eating chirp. I've done all of the trouble-shooting, battery replacement, dust removal, etc. Was about to cut the wires because I couldn't get the alarm tab detached. I'm going to buy 7 new alarms tomorrow to replace them all....with my sanity intact.

I have this same smoke detector and it went off at 4am yesterday for no reason. Basically gave me a heart attack. You can tell I'm sleeping real well tonight it's 1am. I woke up ran out of bed checked the entire house and nothing. No smoke. No fire. No nothing. I dont even know why it finally shut off. But got me shook. Hints why I'm looking to "replace" it

Thank you for giving me the know-how to attack and subdue this audial menace! I live in an apartment with not only smoke detectors but actual fire alarms in both bedrooms which, when the slightest whiff of smoke is detected, emit an ear-piercingly loud shriek. While we have opposable thumbs, our poor cat does not and has nowhere to hide from the horrid noise. I have successfully removed the bloody smoke alarm in my kitchen and pray that I never have to hear the fire alarm go off again!
